Located on the western coast of the Netherlands on the North Sea, The Hague is the third largest city in the country after Amsterdam and Rotterdam, with an area of roughly 100 square kilometers and a population of 545,838 (as of 2019). The government of the Netherlands is seated in the city.

The Hague is dominated by light industries, including papermaking, printing, publishing, garments, furniture, electronics, pharmacy, and food processing. Many big banks and corporations have their headquarters there.

It is a famous cultural center and tourist destination. Nearby Scheveningen is a modern seaside resort with a long, sandy beach, an esplanade, a pier, and a lighthouse. The Peace Palace located within the jurisdiction of The Hague is where the International Court of Justice is stationed.
