Iurii Gaidaienko, a Ukrainian scientist who specializes in the field of electromechanical equipment, arrived in Yongjia county in Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province with his family four years ago.
Gaidaienko is currently working as a senior engineer at Yalong Intelligent Equipment Co in Yongjia county.
Besides being amazed by the rapid development of the county's manufacturing industry, the Ukrainian has also been captivated by Yongjia's integration of modernity and heritage, and cultural offerings.
One of these cultural offerings he recently experienced was dragon boating.
"I used to see dragon boats when taking a stroll with my kids near the Nantang River and have always been fascinated by the sport. My experience today was wonderful and I enjoyed it very much," said Gaidaienko after trying his hands at the sport.
Dragon boating is one of the most popular water sports in Wenzhou. The city, which has one of the best dragon boat centers in Asia, will host the dragon boat races of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 in September.
