Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China's Zhejiang province, will co-host the 19th Asian Games along with Hangzhou, Ningbo, Huzhou, Shaoxing and Jinhua in September.

The organizing committee of the 19th Asian Games recently announced the schedule and competition venues of the much-anticipated sporting event, with three of the 20 competition areas being located in Wenzhou.

The Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Center located in Ouhai district is often considered the best in Asia. It will host men's and women's 200-meter, 500-meter and 1,000-meter dragon boat speed races from Sept 21 to 23, awarding a total of six gold medals.

The Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium and Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium, which are located in Longwan and Lucheng districts respectively, will host the men's and women's football group matches on six days between Sept 7 and 16.

The Asian Games are the second largest sporting event in the world after the Olympic Games. Hangzhou will be the third Chinese city to host the games after Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.
