Wenzhou is once again in the spotlight as the innovative solar energy practices of its county-level city, Yueqing, attract international attention, local media outlets reported.
A crew from China Central Television-4's Bond with China and Brazilian journalist Eric from Brasil 247, a Brazilian news and political analysis website, recently visited Yueqing to explore the city's strides in green development.
The team toured the Hengtai 550-megawatt fishery-solar hybrid project in Yueqing Bay, where rows of deep-blue solar panels stretch across the tidal flats. The site uniquely combines solar power generation above water with aquaculture below, achieving an annual output of 650 million kilowatt hours — enough to power 130,000 households — and reducing coal consumption by over 235,000 metric tons annually.
Eric marveled at the scale and efficiency of the project: "It's amazing! I've never seen anything like this up close. What surprised me most is that only 16 people manage the entire site — unbelievable!"
The delegation also visited Chint Group, a globally renowned leader in smart energy solutions, and its 8-gigawatt high-efficiency photovoltaic module production base, witnessing Yueqing's growing role in advancing China's green manufacturing capabilities.
Through the lens of international media, Wenzhou's story of innovation and sustainability is reaching new global audiences — showcasing the power of Chinese modernization to inspire the world.
