Wenzhou, as one of five co-host cities of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, will host dragon boat races – a unique Chinese sport.

The races will be held at the local Wenzhou Dragon Boat Center in Ouhai district, the top dragon boat venue in Asia.

The overall design of the center is based on a dragon and features boat and sports-related elements. When viewed from above, the center looks like a dragon resting on a river bank.

Unlike traditional dragon boat races that usually consist of 20 to 40 athletes, the Asian Games edition follows an international standard of 12 athletes, who will compete in 200-meter and 500-meter races.

The races for the Asian Games will be held on professional courses rather than natural river ways, and the Wenzhou Dragon Boat Center features a new course that is 1,200 m in length, 130 m in width and 3.5 m in depth with six main tracks, one secondary track, and a buffer zone.
