Have you ever heard nursery rhymes sung by foreign singers? Let’s follow Jeniffer Tavira, an Angolan singer who has been living in Wenzhou for four years, to Qianku town in Cangnan county to experience its unique regional culture behind its nursery rhymes.

Tavira is a graduate of Wenzhou University and a singer. She considers singing a better way of communicating than talking, as it allows her to freely express her emotions.

Together with her friends from South Africa and Zimbabwe, Tavira has established her own band New Beginnings and written and published a number of original songs.

Qianku town is a renowned water town in the south of the Yangtze River with a history of more than 1,000 years, and manhua is its characteristic local dialect. The nursery rhyme Yue Ling Ge uses simple words to record the lives of local residents.
