Business people from Wenzhou, a coastal city in East China’s Zhejiang province, brought their latest technologies and products to the first Global Digital Trade Expo, which opened on Dec 11 in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang.

Among them was Wei Wei. He is the general manager of a Wenzhou-based electrical appliance company and said he chose to drive instead of take the train because he wanted to arrive earlier to prepare for the expo.

Wei and his assistant, with their trolley cases filled with 24 barbers and razors in various styles, located their exhibition booth as soon as they arrived at the venue.

Despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, his company has sold about 200,000 barbers in Southeast Asia and the Middle East, with a turnover of 7 million yuan ($1.01 million) since 2020.

According to the city's commerce bureau, 18 enterprises and organizations from Wenzhou attended this year's GDTE, 16 of which are manufacturers engaged in cross-border e-commerce.

Qian Jun, an official with the bureau, said, "Cross-border e-commerce is like a fast channel that can sell 'Made in Wenzhou' products globally with a few clicks".

He discussed the solid foundation and complete industrial chain of the city's manufacturing sector, as well as the empowerment of national cross-border e-commerce and comprehensive bonded zone in Wenzhou.

The city was listed among the fourth batch of national cross-border e-commerce and comprehensive bonded zones in Dec 12, 2019.

In addition to enterprises from Wenzhou, visitors can also find many Wenzhou elements at the expo, including a promo film of Global Migration to 2D, a pilot project being carried out in Wenzhou's Cangnan county, and promotional materials for Zhejiang's big data joint computing center in the city.
