Wenzhou girl clinches 10-m air rifle gold at Lima World Cup

Chinese athlete Wang Zhilin won the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event at the Lima leg of the World Cup in rifle shooting on April 16, local media outlets reported.

The event was organized by the International Shooting Sport Federation.

Wang advanced to the finals after being ranked fourth in the preliminaries. In the finals, the 19-year-old made a strong showing rivaling Hungarian shooter Eszter Meszaros.

After tying at 8-all, Wang won two shots in a row, then tied again before winning two more shots, ultimately clinching the victory with a total score of 17-9.

Wang, born in 2004 in Rui'an, a county-level city administered by Wenzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, was selected for the shooting team at the Rui'an Sports School in 2015 under the guidance of coach Dai Gaping. In 2017, she joined the Wenzhou Sports School shooting team and was mentored by coach You Xiuxia.

At the 2021 National Games, Wang won two gold medals in the women's 10-meter air rifle individual and team events, earning her widespread recognition. In 2022, she also won the women's 10-meter air rifle individual and team gold medals at the National Shooting Championships.
