Wenzhou's Ouhai district announced that the selection competition for the national dragon boat team will be held from May 17 to 22 at the Wenzhou Dragon Boat Sports Center, local media outlets reported.

The event will be open to the public free of charge and is scheduled for May 20 to 21, during which the Asian Games venue will witness a spectacular display of dragon boats racing.

A total of 12 teams and 192 athletes from across the country will participate in the event. The teams consist of the top six male and female teams that emerged from the national qualification tournament held in Miluo, Hunan province in April.

The dragon boat selection competition will include the 12-member men's group as well as the women's group competing in the 200-meter, 500m, and 1,000m straight sprint races.

A total of 71 technical officials will be involved in the judging process, including 31 referees dispatched by the Chinese Dragon Boat Association and 40 assistant referees selected by the organizing committee. Additionally, volunteers pre-recruited from Wenzhou University and Zhejiang College of Security Technology will also provide services during the event.

As the main training ground for the Hangzhou Asian Games in Wenzhou, Ouhai district is expected to produce six gold medals during the Asian Games.
