Over the course of eight days, more than 40 students and faculty from Wenzhou-Kean University and Kean University in the United States transformed marine debris into striking outdoor art installations in Dongtou, an island district of Wenzhou.
Divided into four teams, the Chinese and American participants focused on environmental protection and recycling, using discarded coastal materials — such as iron pipes, fishing nets, ropes, plastic and glass bottles, and stones — to construct four public art pieces reflecting the island's unique marine culture.
The installations are now open to the public, blending creativity with sustainability and bringing new life to ocean waste.
