Wenzhou's cultural and tourism market saw a major surge over the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, with a total of 2.17 million tourist visits, marking a 22.01-percent year-on-year increase, according to official data.
The city rolled out more than 500 cultural events, blending traditional customs with family-friendly activities. Popular destinations included Nanxi River (234,300 visits), Yandang Mountain (152,800), and Yanting Scenic Area (102,700).
Wenzhou continued its "One Air Ticket, Tour Wenzhou" campaign, offering free entry to 66 State-owned attractions for travelers arriving by air. Partnerships with platforms like Didi, Trip.com, and Fliggy further boosted travel with discounts, flight deals, and tourism vouchers.
Traditional dragon boat races made a spectacular return in multiple districts, integrating sports with cultural tourism. Events included immersive experiences such as dragon boat feasts, folk performances, and themed tours.
The city also embraced zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings) culture, offering hands-on zongzi-making workshops, creative flavors, and culinary fairs that helped drive food-related tourism and local spending.
Short-distance rural getaways surged in popularity, especially with family travelers. Villages hosted interactive programs like puppet shows, fantasy-themed carnivals, and historical markets, drawing thousands of visitors.
