Shaoxing, an iconic water town in the Yangtze River Delta, unveiled an upgraded northern canal route this October, transforming the city's historic waterways into a vibrant cultural stage.

The 13.7-kilometer route features six docking stations — from Shaoxingbei Railway Station to the lively Didang Bar Street — offering visitors an immersive experience that blends sight, sound, and taste.

Under the theme "Sailing through paintings, performing upon water", the cruise presents live performances during weekends and holidays. Dancers in traditional costumes move aboard boats, while excerpts from Yueju Opera, a classic local art form, echo along the canal under glimmering lights.

The upgraded route also introduces a light dining on board experience, offering snacks infused with Shaoxing's famed yellow rice wine, such as rice wine chicken and aniseed beans.

According to the project manager, each journey invites guests to become part of the scene rather than mere spectators. Seasonal and holiday-themed events will follow, ensuring the ancient canals remain as dynamic and enchanting as ever.
