Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has surpassed 2 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in container sea-rail intermodal transport in 2025, setting a new national record.

The port's container sea-rail intermodal volume has ranked second nationwide for seven consecutive years, while its foreign trade intermodal volume continues to lead the country. This milestone reflects Ningbo's strategy of integrating land and sea transport and connecting domestic and international markets.

Operational expansion has played a key role. The port now runs 29 regular train routes across 111 intermodal lines and 40 dry ports, covering 16 provinces and 69 cities. In 2025 alone, two new scheduled trains and two dry ports were added, along with connections to two additional prefecture-level cities.

Service innovations have further boosted efficiency. The model integrating rail-sea express and international fast shipping enables seamless door-to-port delivery for domestic manufacturing clusters, while the single-order intermodal system lowers logistics costs. Rapid services linking Wuhan and Hefei have shortened transit times, creating high-speed outbound corridors for inland companies.

According to the Ningbo Sea-Rail Intermodal Office, the city will continue to enhance sea-rail intermodal services through digital tools and integrated land-sea logistics, aiming to support high-quality growth and strengthen Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's position as a world-class, globally competitive hub.
