Thirty international youth from Egypt, Mozambique, Cameroon, Tanzania, and other countries embarked on a cultural journey through Jindong district in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, on Jan 22 and 23.
The journey began in Beishankou village, Chisong town, the heart of Jindong's fingered citron culture — known as the home of fingered citron. At the Jinhua fingered citron agricultural service center, the group learned to craft fingered citron pendants. They selected fresh fruits, wrapped them with colorful threads, and added tassels, infusing their creations with wishes for happiness and health.
Later, the group visited Jinyi Lake Rucker Park, where they explored the indoor sports facilities reflecting Jindong's dynamic lifestyle, and Zhejiang Hengdong Intelligent Technology Co, where they experienced the district's modern heartbeat through displays of security patrol robots and quadruped robotic dogs.
On the second day, the visitors explored Poyang Ancient Street and Bailu Campsite in Lingxia town, where they tried their hands at traditional woodblock printing of Chinese New Year pictures, listened to Daoqing (a traditional opera form) performances, and participated in various folk activities.
This blend of intangible cultural heritage and vibrant traditions allowed the international youth to appreciate the unique charm of Chinese New Year and the profound legacy of Chinese culture in Jinhua's Jindong district.
