Zhejiang recorded a fitness qualification rate of 95.8 percent during China's sixth national physical fitness monitoring program, 5.1 percentage points higher than the national average.

The national fitness monitoring system breaks physical condition into measurable indicators such as strength, flexibility, coordination, reaction time, and endurance, offering a structured way to assess overall health.

For adults, commonly used tests such as sit-ups and push-ups assess core strength and muscular fitness, while step tests, cycle ergometer exercises, and lung capacity measurements provide direct insight into cardiovascular endurance. When combined with indicators such as body fat percentage, the data help identify weaknesses and guide targeted improvement.

In the sixth round of monitoring, Zhejiang collected 35,200 valid samples covering people aged 3 to 79. Smart equipment was used to encrypt and upload data in real time, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Since 2021, in addition to national sampling programs, Zhejiang has conducted annual physical fitness testing and provided health guidance services. These services include fitness assessments, health analysis, and personalized exercise advice.

Zhejiang built or upgraded 10,000 sports facilities in 2025 by repurposing underutilized urban spaces, with another 10,000 projects planned for 2026 covering construction, renovation, and maintenance. The province currently has 260,400 sports facilities, with a combined area of 228 million square meters.
