The Jinhua Paper Cutting Museum, located in Wucheng district, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, is currently showcasing a special Spring Festival paper-cutting exhibition. By incorporating mechanics, sensors, and audiovisual technology, the works vitalize the ancient art of paper-cutting to welcome the Year of the Horse.

Traditionally, paper-cutting was a simple visual decoration for Spring Festival. However, these creations by Jin Shenhao, the museum's deputy director, redefine the art form, shifting the experience from merely viewing to an immersive activity that stimulates multiple senses.

The exhibition features several innovative installations. One uses sensors to detect visitors, triggering horse sounds and vibrant lights, while a scissor-shaped switch offers a blessing after being touched.

The bench dragon-themed installation recreates the traditional bench dragon dance through paper cuttings, with drums, moving dragon figures, and mist effects appearing after visitors touch the dragon ball.

Visitors can trigger a 3.8-meter-high installation by stretching out their hands to receive the blessings. The walls and ground will be lit up with a dynamic projection of the character fu (fortune) and paper-cuts.

Having completed the initial presentation before Spring Festival, the exhibition continues to draw crowds, enhancing the museum experience. The installations remain on display and are scheduled for full completion by Lantern Festival, offering a unique blend of tradition and modernity.
