Students from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China visited Qinshan village in Zhenhai district, Ningbo, to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
They took part in yaoguo, a unique activity rooted in the labor traditions of the She ethnic group, where participants stand inside an iron wok and use core strength and balance to move it forward.
While yaoguo tests strength and coordination, tie-dyeing offered a quieter artistic contrast. Through folding, binding, and dyeing plain cloth, students created one-of-a-kind patterns, discovering the charm of traditional craftsmanship.
Many international students were amazed by the elegance of Eastern aesthetics, saying it was their first time making Chinese handicrafts — an experience filled with creativity and surprise.
