Shaoxing Customs issued more than 6,000 certificates of origin under various free trade agreements in January, with a total certified export value of 1.85 billion yuan (about $260 million).

The certificates are expected to help local foreign trade enterprises secure nearly 100 million yuan in tariff reductions on imports.

A certificate of origin is a key document that enables exported products to qualify for preferential tariff treatment overseas. In 2025, Shaoxing Customs issued 67,000 certificates of origin under free trade agreements, covering 19.66 billion yuan in exports, up 8.5 percent and 9.7 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Zhejiang Hongsheng Chemical Co, a high-tech enterprise that supplies chemical intermediates to downstream industries, including dyes, tires, and pesticides, is among the beneficiaries.

By utilizing preferential tariff policies under agreements such as the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, the company has steadily expanded its market share in Southeast Asia.

According to Peng Yongqing, head of the company's supply chain management department, the company processed certificates of origin for more than 32 million yuan worth of exports eligible for tariff preferences in January, with orders scheduled through March.
