A wholly Japanese-funded cross-border e-commerce project with registered capital of $100 million completed registration in Xiuzhou district of Jiaxing on Feb 27, marking the first foreign investment project introduced to the district in the Year of the Horse.
Zhejiang Yukong Cross-Border E-Commerce Co, established by Japan-based Kaishu Group, has settled in the Jiaxing Airport Economic Zone. The project was signed at the end of January and completed registration within one month, despite the Spring Festival holiday.
Kaishu Group was founded by Katsu Kaishu (1823-99), a Japanese naval officer who modernized his country's navy and played a mediating role during the Meiji Restoration. Its businesses span logistics, financial services, medical aesthetics, and modern agriculture.
The Xiuzhou company plans to roll out operations in three phases: the initial stage will focus on team building and compliance systems; the trial phase will test key product categories and pilot enterprises; and the final stage will aim to attract additional service providers and platforms, positioning Xiuzhou as a service hub for China-Japan cross-border e-commerce.
Authorities say the project is expected to generate employment across the cross-border e-commerce supply chain, support local manufacturers in expanding overseas, and contribute to industrial upgrading and tax revenue growth.
Since the launch of Jiaxing Nanhu Airport, the airport economic zone has attracted 39 airport-oriented industrial projects, with a total planned investment of over 13 billion yuan ($1.89 billion).
