Zhejiang vows greater contribution to national development

Zhejiang will contribute more to China's overall development through high-quality growth in the next five years, lawmakers from the province said on Friday during the ongoing fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC).
Deputies from Zhejiang reviewed the draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and offered suggestions from different perspectives.
Wang Hao, an NPC deputy and Party secretary of the province, said Zhejiang will align closely with the draft plan to identify priorities, key areas and breakthroughs, focusing on effective implementation and key tasks.
The deputies offered suggestions on a range of issues, including accelerating the building of a modern industrial system, advancing the development of a high-level cultural powerhouse, fostering a world-class innovation ecosystem, promoting a new-type energy system, and helping private enterprises expand markets and improve efficiency.
Speaking to the media after the review, Wang introduced the province's economic and social development, highlighting major achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period. He noted that 2026 marks the beginning of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, and Zhejiang will remain focused on implementation, taking high-quality development as its primary task, reform and innovation as the key driving force, and meeting people's aspirations for a better life as its fundamental goal.
The open session with the media featured lively exchanges between deputies and reporters. Topics including boosting consumption, fostering new quality productive forces, supporting the private economy, ecological conservation and the preservation and innovation of Yueju Opera were discussed, showcasing Zhejiang's latest progress and development vision.
