Wenzhou NPC deputy focuses on NEV supporting industries
Hu Dongfang, a senior engineer at Zhejiang Risesun Science and Technology Co in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, is attending the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing, focusing on supporting industries for new energy vehicles (NEVs).
Hu notes that NEVs have become central to the automotive industry's transformation amid global efforts to combat climate change. China has made significant strides in the NEV sector, leading the world in both production and sales.
However, Hu's research indicates that supporting industries are lagging behind the rapid development of the vehicle sector. Key areas such as battery recycling, charging infrastructure, and smart network system development remain underdeveloped, hindering high-quality growth.
Hu identifies four pressing needs for NEV supporting industries: ensuring sustainable NEV development, particularly battery recycling; enhancing China's international competitiveness; facilitating energy structure adjustments and green development; and creating new drivers of economic growth and more employment opportunities.
To address these challenges, Hu suggests strengthening policy support and guidance, increasing infrastructure investment, promoting technological innovation and industry upgrades, and enhancing market regulation and standardization.
Hu argues that the NEV supporting industry is the invisible engine of high-quality NEV development, and urges Wenzhou's enterprises to advance in technology, products, and standards, contributing "Wenzhou wisdom" and "Wenzhou strength" to carbon goals.
