Zhoushan sees record Spring Festival passenger flow

The 2026 Spring Festival travel period ended on March 13, with the total passenger flow in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, hitting a new high of 10.99 million, a 16.46 percent increase compared to last year.

Road transport saw 6.1 million trips, a 24.65 percent year-on-year rise, while waterway transport saw 4.53 million, an increase of 7.21 percent. Air travel also surged, with 352,300 trips, a 28.26 percent increase.

The peak travel period was extended due to the longer holiday, with heavy traffic peaking between Feb 18 and Feb 22, especially on Feb 19, when 496,900 trips were recorded, a 31.76 percent increase compared to last year.

Zhoushan Cross-Sea Bridges saw about 1.82 million vehicles, up by 13.44 percent year-on-year, while the Zhoushan-Daishan Bridge saw 512,400 vehicles, an increase of 9.71 percent.

To manage the flow, the city deployed 1,660 vehicles, 136 ferries, and 2,961 flights, with measures such as enhanced bridge coordination, real-time traffic management, and a "green channel" policy ensuring efficient transport and priority for essential goods, amounting to 10.26 million tons of key materials.
