Zhejiang province exported 98,000 new energy vehicles in the first two months of the year, up 98.4 percent year-on-year, according to Ningbo Customs data.
Exports reached 125 countries and regions. Shipments to the European Union, ASEAN, and Latin America increased by 70 percent, 140 percent, and 1,610 percent year-on-year, respectively.
The rapid growth has been supported by both leading vehicle manufacturers and the province's extensive automotive parts industry cluster.
Tuopu Group, a Ningbo-based auto parts manufacturer, recently exported a batch of chassis systems and lightweight components worth about 2 million yuan ($278,000) to North America after expedited customs clearance.
A company representative said Tuopu will continue to invest in core technologies and expand its presence in overseas markets.
