Ningbo Port has witnessed a remarkable surge in new energy vehicle (NEV) exports during the first two months of 2026, highlighting the city's growing role in global automotive trade.
According to Ningbo Customs, NEV exports reached 7.33 billion yuan ($106.24 million), with a total of 62,000 units shipped overseas — representing year-on-year increases of 144.5 percent in value and 131.5 percent in volume.
During the same period, total automobile exports from Ningbo Port stood at 9.43 billion yuan, with NEVs accounting for an impressive 77.7 percent of the total. This underscores the sector's role as the primary driver of export growth, demonstrating strong momentum and resilience.
The city's diversified export strategy has also yielded impressive results, particularly in high-end markets. The United Arab Emirates, the European Union, and Brazil ranked as the top three destinations, with export values of 2.14 billion yuan, 1.89 billion yuan, and 1.51 billion yuan, respectively. Exports to the EU recorded a dramatic year-on-year increase of 947 percent, while those to Brazil and the UAE rose by 153.5 percent and 91.1 percent.
