Yiwu in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, was bustling with both domestic and international tourists during the Qingming Festival holiday.
Thanks to China's departure tax refund and 240-hour visa-free transit policies, Yiwu, known globally as the world's largest small commodities wholesale market, has become a popular destination for international travelers to buy specialty items from around the world.
Sulley Deku, a buyer from Ghana, said the variety and fair prices left a strong impression on him as he selected a toy car for his daughter at Yiwu International Trade Market. As a resident buyer in China, Deku ships various small commodities from Yiwu to Ghana annually, where they are highly popular.
Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center attracted young visitors during the holiday with its technology, trendiness, and digital features, while at Saier Technology's store, smart wearable devices like AI rings and glasses drew large crowds.
The company's latest product, an AI translator, supports real-time translation in over 140 languages and can attach to phones, doubling as a stand. "Retail sales have been strong this holiday, and wholesale orders have also increased," said Yang Shuning, general manager of Saier Technology.
The "Discover Yiwu" city brand is continuing to develop this year, as the city offers not only global wholesale trade but also personalized retail experiences. These lively market scenes reflect a robust surge in consumer activity and signal economic vitality.
