Jiaxing Nanhu Airport secured approval for its customs supervision site on April 27, marking a key step toward launching international cargo services in East China's Zhejiang province.
The newly registered facility fills a gap in Jiaxing's international air transport and lays the groundwork for future import and export operations, positioning the airport as the Yangtze River Delta region's first dedicated air cargo hub and part of Zhejiang's major infrastructure program.
Located within the airport, the supervision site is designed to handle a full range of cargo types and includes inspection gates, pre-entry control zones, centralized customs inspection areas, and dedicated sections for cross-border e-commerce and express shipments.
The facility also introduces digital twin technology, integrating AR visualization and Beidou navigation to improve operational efficiency. The system, supported by data analytics and AI models, enables more streamlined supervision and faster clearance, enhancing the hub's logistics capacity.
The next step for the city is to optimize processes and expand the use of smart equipment to accelerate the launch of international cargo routes and support multimodal transport development across road, rail, sea, and air networks.
