East China's Zhejiang released a white paper on intellectual property development and protection in 2025, reporting steady growth in patents, trademarks, and data-related assets.

The province granted 83,000 new domestic invention patents in 2025, up 5.48 percent year-on-year and accounting for 22.3 percent of all patent authorizations.

By the end of 2025, Zhejiang held 488,000 valid invention patents, with 24.3 high-value invention patents per 10,000 people.

Valid registered trademarks exceeded 5 million. The number of valid registered trademarks per 100 enterprises ranked first nationwide for the eighth consecutive year.

Zhejiang also advanced a special campaign to promote the use of patents. Universities and research institutes transferred or commercialized 12,700 patents, leading to 6,255 industrial projects.

As China's first pilot province for data-related intellectual property reform, Zhejiang was among the first to include artificial intelligence datasets in the registration system. It has developed 10 market-based pathways, including transfer and licensing, financing support, and balance-sheet recognition.

By the end of 2025, the province had registered 30,400 data-related intellectual property items.
