Yiwu companies seek opportunities in Indonesia
The China Yiwu International Commodities Fair (Yiwu Fair) Indonesia Expo was held on May 12 in Jakarta, Indonesia, with 129 companies from Yiwu, Jinhua, Zhejiang province, showcasing consumer goods, hardware, electronics, and more.
"Our booth has been bustling with business inquiries all morning," said Tong Yun, general manager of Jindeli Leather and Plastics. Its products, such as leather for shoes and sofas, are perfectly suited to fill gaps in the Indonesian market. One local buyer, after ordering several samples, invited them for a company visit.
Jewelry entrepreneur Wu Lingqiao is attending the expo for the second time. Last year, she connected with numerous clients by introducing over 100 products. This year, she selected necklaces and earrings tailored to local tastes, aiming for more orders.
In the first quarter, Yiwu's exports to Indonesia rose to 3.45 billion yuan ($507.90 million), up 31.9 percent year-on-year. This year's expo also included high-quality Indonesian firms, providing Yiwu companies with direct partnership opportunities.
Yiwu plans further expos in Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Bangkok, Seoul, and Ho Chi Minh City, to enhance its global trade reach. According to the Yiwu bureau of commerce, 443 companies participated in 66 international expos from January to April, highlighting overseas exhibitions as a key strategy for stabilizing foreign trade.
