Wenling partners with Belarus university on heavy-lift agricultural drone project
Wenling, a county-level city in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel in Belarus to jointly develop heavy-lift agricultural drones, marking a new step in cross-border collaboration in low-altitude economy technologies.
Under the agreement, the Wenling Agricultural Low-Altitude Economy Joint Research Center and Sukhoi State Technical University of Gomel have established a joint laboratory focused on agricultural drone research and industrial applications. The two sides will cooperate on the development of a 2 metric-ton-class coaxial heavy-lift drone designed for large-scale agricultural and forestry operations.
The drone system is expected to be used in scenarios including crop protection across large farmlands, transportation of agricultural products in mountainous areas, emergency supply delivery, and short-range maritime logistics support.
Wenling's research center, established in August last year, specializes in agricultural equipment research, manufacturing, and application. In January this year, it completed flight testing of a 500-kilogram-class coaxial agricultural drone, marking a milestone in local unmanned aerial agricultural technology development.
The two sides will also share expertise in aerospace power systems, flight control design, and onboard intelligent systems, while exchanging researchers to support joint development efforts. Local firms are also expected to benefit from potential overseas market expansion in areas such as components, electronic control systems, and sensors.
