China-US youth cultural exchange camp wraps up in Zhoushan
The 2026 "Hi, Young" China-US Youth Cultural Exchange Camp concluded on July 8 after bringing together 53 teens from the United States and more than 100 Chinese youths for an eight-day exchange in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, and Beijing.
During the camp, participants experienced traditional Chinese culture through activities including acupuncture, tea ceremonies, traditional handicraft workshops, dragon boat racing, and table tennis matches.
US students said the exchange helped them better understand Chinese culture and development. After experiencing dragon boat racing, Auggie Cilley said the trip had broadened his view of the country and he hoped to return to further his studies one day.
The young participants also visited Zhoushan villages, cultural sites, and universities, gaining insights into local traditions, tourism development, and community services. They later dropped by several world-famous landmarks including the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and Tsinghua University.
The "Hi, Young" program aims to build a platform for youth exchange and deepen mutual understanding between young people from China and the US through cultural experiences and face-to-face interaction.
