Hangzhou-Ningbo synergy powers cultural tech firm's global growth
A decade of closer cooperation between Hangzhou and Ningbo is helping local cultural technology company Zhejiang Dafeng Industry Co expand its global footprint, with overseas orders surging 471.1 percent year-on-year in 2025.
Founded in Ningbo's Yuyao in 1991, Dafeng has built a dual-city model that combines creative research and digital innovation in Hangzhou with intelligent manufacturing in Ningbo. The strategy has enabled the company to evolve from an equipment supplier into a provider of integrated solutions, creative services and technical standards for major international projects.
The company's Hangzhou innovation center, home to more than 750 researchers and designers, develops technologies such as digital twins, AR/VR and AI, while its Ningbo production base turns those ideas into products. Together, they delivered the dynamic main cauldron for the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games and are now producing the main cauldron for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan.
Dafeng has also supplied stage systems for more than 5,000 cultural and sports venues in over 100 countries and regions, including Tajikistan's National Theatre, where its proprietary stage control system and technical standards are being adopted.
Local authorities in Hangzhou and Ningbo have supported the company's growth through coordinated talent, tax and innovation policies, reinforcing the value of regional collaboration in advancing high-end manufacturing and the creative economy.
