A cargo flight carrying electronics and cross-border e-commerce goods departed from Jiaxing Nanhu Airport in East China's Zhejiang province for Los Angeles on July 26, marking the launch of the airport's first direct freight route to the Americas and its third international cargo service following routes to Dhaka and Budapest.

The new route allows exporters in Jiaxing and nearby areas to ship goods directly to North America, eliminating the need for transfers through other airports, improving logistics efficiency, and reducing transportation costs. The service is also expected to complement Jiaxing Port by combining the speed of air freight with the cost advantages of sea transport.

To support the new service, Jiaxing Customs introduced a dedicated supervision plan, streamlined customs clearance through green channels, and expanded the use of smart technologies including AI-assisted inspection systems and robotic patrol devices. Jiaxing Customs also provided policy guidance on route registration and customs declarations to accelerate clearance while maintaining border security.

Since the airport began operations, Jiaxing Customs has handled 77 international cargo flights carrying more than 1,800 metric tons of imports and exports. Earlier routes primarily carried textile products to Dhaka and cross-border e-commerce parcels to Budapest.

Looking ahead, the airport plans to increase flights on the Los Angeles route based on market demand and expand its international cargo network to more destinations across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, further strengthening Zhejiang's global logistics connectivity.
