Zhoushan's exports reached a record 70.3 billion yuan ($10.41 billion) in the first half of this year, up 15.9 percent year-on-year, the fastest growth among cities in Zhejiang province.

The city's total foreign trade rose to 156.91 billion yuan, with strong demand for high-value vessels providing a key boost. Ship exports climbed 37.7 percent year-on-year to 11.81 billion yuan.

Bonded marine fuel contributed to export growth, with Zhoushan completing China's first export of blended marine biofuel earlier this year and establishing a full supply chain covering blending, export, and bunkering, strengthening its position as a national hub for green marine fuel.

Companies in Zhoushan have also continued to expand their international presence in the first half of the year by participating in overseas trade fairs and exploring new markets.

Exports to ASEAN grew 63.2 percent year-on-year, while exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members increased 22.6 percent and 54.3 percent, respectively. Cross-border e-commerce also expanded, with the city completing its first cross-border seafood shipment.
