Quzhou in Zhejiang province is seeing a range of creative mooncakes ahead of Mid-Autumn Festival, featuring local landmarks, specialty products, and folk culture.

At 808 Cafe on Daoqian Jie in downtown Quzhou, mooncakes featuring city landmarks are drawing buyers; this year's collection has eight designs, up from four last year, with both savory and sweet flavors, and has attracted orders since its late-August launch.

Caviar mooncakes offer another take on Quzhou's specialty industries, with Kaluga Queen's Shuitingmen store introducing a brandy-and-rose caviar flavor, selling more than 500 sets since presales began on Aug 15.

Local bakery brand Xiangteli has also teamed up with the Quzhou Three Monsters folk legend for a gift set featuring 12 mooncakes in six flavors. The designs feature the legend's three legendary characters — the One-Horned Ghost, the White Cloth Ghost, and the Duck Ghost — along with elements of Quzhou's historical architecture and local opera. More than 300 boxes have been ordered online, with sales at 16 stores in Quzhou expected to begin in late September.
