A batch of Phalaenopsis orchid seedlings from Floricultura Horticulture (Zhejiang), based in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, was exported to Europe on Sept 11, marking Zhejiang's first export of Phalaenopsis orchid seedlings.

The 63,900 seedlings, valued at 434,900 yuan ($64,783), passed quarantine inspection, and Jiaxing Customs issued a phytosanitary certificate. The shipment was also the first export of flower seedlings from Jiaxing.

For the company's first export, Jiaxing Customs provided one-on-one assistance, helping it understand quarantine requirements in destination countries, identify risks, and meet export declaration requirements. It also opened a green channel for fresh agricultural products, shortening approval and inspection times.

According to Wu Yi, general manager of Floricultura Horticulture, the company registered last year as an enterprise producing seedlings and flowers for export under the guidance of customs. It completed its first export this year with further assistance from customs.

Jiaxing is one of Zhejiang's major flower-producing areas, with its flower and nursery industry among the city's seven leading agricultural industries. Haining, a county-level city in Jiaxing, is also the permanent host of the World Garden Show.
