This year marks the 70th anniversary of China-Africa diplomatic relations and the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has rolled out a series of cultural exchange activities, moving exchanges from conference halls to stages, workshops, markets, and daily life.
As part of the 2026 China-Africa cultural exchange activities, the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Art Research Institute toured Lesotho and Zimbabwe in October with Wuju Opera performances.
On Oct 23, the 2026 China-Africa Film and Television Cooperation event opened in Hengdian, Dongyang, focusing on technology, industry matchmaking, youth training, and two-way distribution.
On Oct 27, a seven-day China-Africa rural tourism development training camp opened in Jinhua for 30 African participants. They visited rural tourism sites in Wuyi, Yiwu, Dongyang, and Lanxi to learn about heritage experiences, business operations, and collective economy practices.
A tourism promotion series reached Rabat, Morocco, on Sept 10 with celadon, Wuju Opera, and tea experiences, and extended to Zimbabwe in October.
Next, the 2026 China-Africa Culture and Tourism Cooperation Conference will bring more than 200 officials, scholars, and industry representatives together, with parallel sessions on crafts and tourism. The Qiaochuifang Workshop will run in Yiwu from Nov 6 to 8, gathering 28 woodcarvers from five African countries for a 30-day exchange, alongside a Jinhua intangible cultural heritage market.
