Quzhou welcomes Chinese New Year with lively festivities

As the Year of the Horse draws near, lively and exciting Chinese New Year celebrations are in full swing in Quzhou, Zhejiang province. During the nine-day Spring Festival holiday, a series of cultural and tourism activities promise to delight locals and visitors alike.
At the Shuiting Gate Pier in the Quzhou Ancient City Cultural Tourism Zone, a spectacular "fire show" will light up the night sky with folk performances, including datiehua — which involves spraying molten iron in the air — and fire juggling, set to stun onlookers from Feb 17 to 19.
From Feb 17 to 23, the streets of Quzhou Ancient City will transform into a stage for themed parades, with performers wearing traditional Chinese attire to play historical figures and mythical characters, enabling visitors to engage more intimately with the city's history. Additionally, daily intangible cultural heritage performances will showcase traditional crafts, including stilt walking and dragon dances.
Visitors to Lanke Mountain can immerse themselves in an interactive cultural experience from Feb 17 to 23. The event will feature a series of interactive cultural experiences for visitors, including writing calligraphy and playing Go, promising a unique blend of tradition and entertainment.
Throughout Quzhou, shopping hubs such as the Wuyue Plaza and Wanda Plaza will offer lively markets, live music shows, and traditional performances, ensuring a continuous festive atmosphere from Feb 7 to 23.
