Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province completed its first bonded marine fuel oil bunkering operation at the Majishan port area on May 27, marking full coverage of fuel supply services across all general cargo terminals in the city's port system.

At the No 1 berth in the Majishan port area, the fuel supply barge Dong Fang Zhao Yang 2 and the 180,000-metric-ton Hong Kong-registered bulk carrier Xin Li Hai carried out the refueling operation alongside each other. A total of 1,113 tons of marine fuel oil was delivered during the operation.

Majishan, located in northern Zhoushan, is a major bulk cargo hub handling more than 57 million tons of cargo throughput and over 250 foreign vessel calls last year. However, complex hydrological conditions and limited supply capacity had previously prevented regular bunkering services.

The completion of the first bunkering service fills a gap in fuel supply services at Majishan, allowing ships to complete both cargo unloading and refueling in a single stop, improving operational efficiency and reducing detours to other ports.

The city aims to expand regular bunkering operations at Majishan and further develop Zhoushan into a global bonded marine fuel supply hub.
