From late March to early April of this year, 20 young people from China and the United States traveled aboard the China-US Youth Friendship research vessel, stopping in Ningbo as part of a journey focusing on marine exploration and cultural exchange.

During their stay, the participants visited a marine center, an auto parts company, and a smart factory, gaining firsthand insights into Ningbo's marine research and advanced manufacturing. At Ningbo University, they toured laboratories and tried a ship-handling simulator.

Beyond technology and science, the young people explored Ningbo's rich cultural heritage. They visited Tianyi Pavilion, learned about rural vitalization in Cicheng and experienced traditional craftsmanship at a local cultural workshop.

At a friendship event, Chinese and American students performed together, played games and shared cultural experiences, creating opportunities for open communication and deeper understanding.

The exchange is part of ongoing efforts to promote people-to-people ties between China and the US. Ningbo has maintained friendly exchanges with American cities for decades, with six sister-city and friendly-exchange relationships established to date.

Such connections are continuing through diverse activities. From joint marine exploration and campus exchanges to cultural performances overseas, Ningbo is providing young people with more opportunities to connect, communicate and build lasting friendships.
